Terms of Service
Effective date: June 25, 2026 Version: 2026-06-25
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Advantage Flag Football League, a California nonprofit public benefit corporation ("AFL," "the League," "we") governing your use of the League's website and registration platform (the "Service"). By creating an account or registering a player, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.
These are the "AFL Terms of Service" referred to in the registration waivers.
1. Who may use the Service
You must be 18 or older and a parent or legal guardian of any player you register (or an authorized League coach, volunteer, or administrator). Accounts are for adults only - children may not create accounts, sign in, or submit information through the Service. (Anyone may view our public pages, like schedules and league announcements; those pages do not ask for any information.) Our practices for players' information are described in the Children's Privacy Notice. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you submit and for activity under your account. Keep your sign-in credentials confidential and tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized use.
2. Registration, fees, and payment
- Registration fees, deadlines, and division details are published for each season.
- We accept cash, check, or money order only. The Service does not process credit or debit cards, and we do not ask for card numbers.
- A registration is complete when required information, signed acknowledgments, and payment are received. A complete registration does not by itself guarantee a roster spot - the League may maintain waitlists when divisions are full.
3. Refunds
Refund requests must be submitted in writing (email to info@ylafl.com) before the refund deadline published for the applicable season. Requests after the deadline are honored only at the League's discretion. Approved refunds are returned by check or, where you agree, as a credit toward a future season.
4. League participation
Participation in League activities (practices, games, clinics) is governed by the medical, liability, and conduct acknowledgments you accept during registration for each player (the "Registration Acknowledgments"), and by League rules published from time to time. If these Terms conflict with a Registration Acknowledgment, the Registration Acknowledgment controls for the matters it covers.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
- access another family's information without authorization;
- attempt to probe, disable, or overload the Service;
- scrape or bulk-export data;
- submit false registration information; or
- use the Service to harass League families, players, volunteers, or staff.
Coaches and volunteers may use family contact and player information available to them solely for team and league operations, and may not retain, share, or use it for any other purpose.
We may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms or put families' information at risk.
6. League communications and media
By using the Service you consent to receive transactional and league-operations email at the address on your account (registration and payment confirmations, schedules, roster announcements, and league updates). To stop receiving league announcements (as opposed to account and registration notices), email info@ylafl.com.
SMS messages are sent only if you separately opt in. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may apply; reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. Mobile numbers and opt-in status are never shared with third parties for marketing.
Photo and media permissions are not granted by these Terms. How event photography is handled, and how to ask us to stop using your child's image, is described in our Privacy Policy, Section 12.
7. The Service is provided as-is
The Service is provided by a volunteer-run nonprofit on an "as is" and "as available" basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the League disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the League's total liability arising out of the use of the Service (not League athletic activities, which are governed by the Registration Acknowledgments) is limited to the greater of (a) the registration fees you paid for the season in which the events giving rise to the claim occurred, or (b) $100, and the League is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under California law.
9. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us (player records are handled per the Privacy Policy's retention section). We may suspend or terminate Service access for violation of these Terms; registration fees already paid remain governed by the refund policy in Section 3.
10. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by California law. Before filing suit, you and the League agree to first try in good faith to resolve any dispute informally and, if that fails, through non-binding mediation in Orange County, California, with the mediator's fees shared equally. Any dispute not resolved through mediation will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you and the League each consent to that venue. There is no binding arbitration.
11. Changes
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will email account holders, post the updated Terms with a new effective date, and require you to re-accept at your next sign-in.
12. General
Severability; entire agreement; no assignment by you without our consent; no waiver by inaction; survival of Section 3, the data-use limits in Section 5 (coaches' and volunteers' obligations regarding family information survive account termination), and Sections 7-10. The entire-agreement clause does not displace the Privacy Policy, the Registration Acknowledgments described in Section 4, or the media-release handling described in Section 6 - all are external documents these Terms make operative.
13. Notice for California users
Under California Civil Code § 1789.3, California users are entitled to the following notice: the Service is provided by Advantage Flag Football League, 18032 Lemon Drive, Suite C-360, Yorba Linda, CA 92886.
